Periyar Tiger Reserve situated towards middle part of Kerala bordering the neighbouring state- Tamil Nadu. Thekkady derived from thekku (teak ) known for its teak woods present in the forest and even the Periyar National park is situated here which is one among the tourist destinations in Kerala.
