In a bid to control the influx of tourists and protect the ecosystem of the Nilgiris, the Madras High Court has mandated the use of an e-pass system for visitors to Ooty and Kodaikanal. Effective from May 7, 2024, to June 30, 2024, this new requirement aims to regulate tourism flow during the peak season.
What is an e – Pass ?
An electronic pass serves as a pass of admission to specific locations. The Tamil Nadu government has now sent out a notification asking potential tourists who wish to visit Kodaikanal or Ooty to obtain an E-Pass. These two locations are well-known for their picturesque scenery and welcoming atmosphere for tourists. In light of this, the government launches the TN E-Pass online application process for visitors outside of Ooty and Kodaikanal on its official website. They must register themselves, providing their IDs, the date of their visit, and any vehicle details. Anyone living outside of Tamil Nadu’s two towns must register for an e-pass.
